Automatic ash removal
When any product is burned, no matter how well, there will always be an amount of ash by-product left over. Manually removing this smelly, dusty substance can be a dirty and unpleasant job. REKA’s ash system automatically removes any ash and deposits it in to a sealed ash storage container so the boiler door does not have to be open and heat lost. This system eliminates the need to for manual cleaning. The ash box will not need frequent cleaning as wood chip only produces 2% ash and pellets even less (only 0.3% of the fuel put in coming out as ash), cereals produce 4 – 5 % ash.

Operation: ash is pushed into the ash tray at the bottom of the boiler by the moving floor, an auger then turns at infinitely variable, predetermined intervals and moves the ash out of the boiler and into the ash container.

Moving floor grate
Fuels such as cereals can cause problems, when burning they produce residue which hardens and blocks air ducts. The majority of boilers on the market cannot burn them efficiently without blockages. REKA multi fuel boilers are fitted with a unique moving floor which facilitates a much broader and varied choice of fuels. The moving floor breaks up the residue know as clinker, allowing air to move freely through the grates, producing a much more efficient burn and reducing maintenance. All REKA boilers in the HKRST and HKRSV range have a moving floor, whether it’s a massive 4mw boiler or the world’s smallest moving grate: the 10kW boiler, all are fitted with the same efficient yet rugged system

Operation: a geared motor slowly moves the floor in a backwards and forwards motion, gradually moving the fuel down through the boiler in the different stages of the burn, once it reaches the end of the boiler all that will be left is a small amount of ash which is then augured out automatically.

Automatic Feed System
With flammable fuel directly connected to an intensely hot fire, a safe and reliable system to transport the fuel is required. REKA uses a series of infrared eyes to monitor and control the quantity of fuel being transported. Should there be a blockage the infrared eyes stop the auger and shutdown the boiler. The transport system is equipped with heavy duty augers and motors for long life and smooth operation; with such harsh materials passing through the system everyday a normal auger could wear out and cause problems.

Additional safety features such as fire lock and water sprinkler system prevent burn back in the case of an emergency.

Lambda Oxygen Controlled Environment
Fire needs three things for maximum output: heat, fuel provided by the hopper and oxygen. By monitoring this you can control the ferocity of the fire. This is why REKA boilers are so efficient. The boilers only produce heat when needed rather than uncontrollably burning everything. The Lambda sensor also ensures optimum oxygen levels in the boiler for the most efficient burn possible with up to 92% efficiency.

Operation: the Lambda sensor (an electronic device which monitors gas levels in the exhaust) detects the oxygen levels in the boiler and relays the figures to the control box which in turn controls the amount of oxygen and fuel going into the boiler.

Primary Secondary Air
Air enters the boiler through two points: primary air from underneath the fuel and secondary air blown in from the top, ensuring that  no matter what fuel you are burning the correct air levels is easily obtained. Different fuels burn better with different levels of oxygen, for example cereals prefer more air from underneath.

Operation: The air is blown in by variable speed fans; it cools the moving floor grates as well as fuelling the fire with oxygen from underneath; air also reaches the fire through directional nozzles from the top.

Heat Exchanger ‘Fire Tubes’ and water jacket
Heat is transferred from the fire to the water via the heat exchangers or “fire tubes” these are a series of 4.5mm thick steel tubes surrounded by water as hot air passes through them the heat is transferred to the water; the now cool air is exhausted through the chimney. The boiler also has a complete water jacket to make use of as much heat as possible.
