Q. My current boiler is X btu's, how do I know what size kW boiler I require ?

A. btu divide by 3,411.80 = kW (1kW = 3,411.80btu's)

Q. Which fuel has the highest calorific value?

A. On our in-house trials (of the fuels we tested), we found wheat to be the highest.

Q. Is clinker a problem?

A. Not with a Reka boiler due to its moving grate floor. The fuel product is constantly turned to ensure maximum burn.

Q. How much ash is generated?

A. On our in-house trials, we found Wheat to be approx 6% of volume and woodchip to be less than 1%.

Q. What is the pay-back period?

A. Approximately 3-5 years dependant of kW of boiler and fuel product used?

Q. How much maintenance does a Reka boiler require?

A. It is minimal due to its automated system of automatic fuel feed and ash removal.

Q. What safety devices are installed to a Reka boiler?

A. There is a 4 paddle cell-lock (fire box) which ensures no back-draft of flame into the fuel hopper. There is also an automatic sprinkler system installed into the feeding auger.

Q. Where are Reka boilers manufactured?

A. In Denmark.

Q. How long has the company been in existence?

A. Since 1979.

Q. What is the ideal height for the chimney flue?

A. 6 metres or 5 metres using an exhaust fan (on 10kW-100kW boilers.)

Q. What is the highest moisture content fuel I can burn on a Reka boiler?

A. All kW Reka boilers come in two models, a 0-30% moisture content & 30-50% moisture content.

Q. What is the range of size in kW of Reka boilers?

A. 10 kW to 3,500 kW (3,5MW)

Q. Can I burn a low moisture content fuel on a 30-50% moisture boiler?

A. You can burn certain drier products, but not all, on a wet boiler.

Q. Can I burn a high moisture (30-50%) fuel on a low moisture (0-30%) boiler?

A. No.

Q. Can I install a Reka boiler alongside my existing boiler?

A. Yes

Q. What applications can a Reka boiler be used in?

A. House / Swimming Pool / Nursery/Glass Houses / Workshop / Office / Poultry Sheds / Milking Parlour / Mushroom Sheds etc

Q. How do I light my Reka boiler?

A. You make a small fire in the combustion chamber to initiate first burn.

Q. Does the Reka boiler ‘go out' when not being used?

A. Reka boilers have a ‘slumber' mode and when the boiler is not on demand (i.e. during the night.) The boiler output during this time is approx 2% of max output.

Q. What if my Reka boiler ‘goes out'?

A. If you are using dry woodchip as your fuel product, you can have a self-ignition system installed in the unlikely event of it going out.

Q. What sizes in kW do Reka boilers come in?

A. They come in : 10 / 20 / 30 / 60 / 100 / 160 / 200 / 300 / 350 / 400 / 500 / 600 / 650 / 750 / 1,000 / 1,300 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,600 / 3,000 / 3,500 kW
